Parish Update – June 11, 2020

Parish News
Please remember to leave your notes and cards for Father Tom in the wishing well in the gathering space!  He has contributed so much to our parish over the last 3 years, this is a great opportunity to share our appreciation with him.
Father Erin Kochivar will be our new parochial vicar beginning July 1st.  Father Erin is a Colorado native, raised in Kiowa Colorado. At the end of high school he discerned a call to the priesthood which led him to St. Gregory the Great Seminary in Nebraska. Ordained at Ave Maria in 2016, he has since served at Holy Apostles in Colorado Springs, continued his education in Rome, and is currently the Parochial Administrator of Our Lady of the Woods and St. Peter Chapel in Woodland Park and Cripple Creek, Colorado.

Ave Maria parishioner Paul Ruff will be ordained to the permanent diaconate on Saturday, June 20th.  Paul and his family have been preparing for this for the last 5 years.   Deacons are ordained as a sacramental sign to the Church and to the world of Christ, who came “to serve and not to be served.” As ministers of the Word, deacons proclaim the Gospel, preach, and teach in the name of the Church. As ministers of Sacraments, deacons baptize, lead the faithful in prayer, witness marriages, and conduct wake and funeral services as ministers of Charity, deacons are leaders in identifying the needs of others, then marshaling the Church’s
resources to meet those needs. (USCCB)
Mass Updates/Reminders
This week we are making a slight change to our Mass registration process.  You will still follow the same process and register for your Mass on Eventbrite.  Previously, you registered for the number of people attending Mass.  Now you will register by family. We have a certain number of spaces for groups in the church, whether you are one person or a large family.  We think we can more effectively utilize our space if we register by family. Thank you for your help!
