Parish Update Weekend of November 15, 2020

Parish Update
Weekend of November 15, 2020
Around the Parish
Mass
We have made adjustments in the church to comply with changing government Covid restrictions.  For weekend Masses, please sit with yellow tape in front of you and only one family per section of yellow tape.  Continue to sit with the blue tape behind you for weekday Masses.
Due to size limitations, it is more important than ever to make a reservation for Mass and cancel reservations that you will not be able to make.  Thank you!
You are not obligated to attend Mass at this time.  If you feel uncomfortable for any reason, please stay home.  Mass is live streamed every day at 9:00 am.
Holiday Giving
Hands of Hope Turkey Run
The Hands of Hope Turkey Run, like all things, is different this year.  Due to Covid 19, the Hands of Hope ministry has been unable to enter The Pine Ridge Reservation in 2020 and we don’t believe we will be allowed on the Reservation until sometime in 2021. The need on The Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota at this time is huge. Normally we ask for donations of food and clothing that we deliver to Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Kyle, SD. This year we are asking simply for cash or check donations.

Hands of Hope members will be collecting cash and checks before and after each Mass on the weekends of November 14th and November 21st. Ave Maria Catholic Church will then send a check to Father Ron Seminara, who will purchase food and necessities for the community of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church.
The Hands of Hope ministry is grateful to the parishioners of our parish for the tremendous support you have provided over the years to our mission of serving the poorest of the poor. If you are not attending Mass over Covid concerns, you can mail a check made out to Ave Maria Catholic Church to the Parish Office and in the memo section label it as Turkey Run. You are helping those at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Kyle SD so much!  Thank you and God Bless!
Adopt a Family
The Samaritans of Ave Maria are once again sponsoring the Adopt-A-Family program.  To get a family to sponsor, please call Mary Anne Watson at  303 549-8399.  We will not be at Masses this year.  You must call before December 5th to receive a family.  Drop off to the Parker Task Force is December 11th.  Gifts should not be left at the church.
Ave Maria Catholic School Auction
The Ave Maria online auction bidding is open until Saturday, November 14th at 10:00 PM. Our auction helps to offset the discrepancy between tuition and the actual cost of educating our children and helps us to raise funds for special projects and additional needs. This year, due to Covid restrictions we are hosting a virtual auction.  Make sure you scroll through all the items!
Poinsettias of Remembrance Sale
The Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus is sponsoring the sale of Poinsettias of Remembrance to be placed around the altar during the Christmas season. Your support in decorating our church is greatly appreciated. A card with your special intentions (deceased loved ones, prayers, thanksgiving, etc.) will be in an intention binder and placed near the altar with the poinsettias. A Mass on Christmas Eve will be offered for your intentions.
Please fill out the form below and place it in an envelope with your payment (cash or check) 1) in the box on poinsettia table in entrance area of the church, or 2) drop it off at parish office. You can also mail it to: Ave Maria Catholic Parish, c/o poinsettia sales, 9056 East Parker Rd., Parker, CO 80138.
The cost of each plant will be $15.00. Checks can be made payable to: Ave Maria Catholic Church.
Orders must be received by December 15, 2020. Poinsettias will NOT be available to take home after the Christmas season this year.
Net proceeds will be donated to Little Sisters of the Poor.

Advent is a time of promise and expectation. But what are we promised? And what are we expecting? Although one of the most famous liturgical seasons in the Church’s calendar, Advent is also one of the most misunderstood, with many missing out on the riches of this unique time of promise and expectation.
