The Sacrament of Baptism The basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons and daughters of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission: “Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the Word.” (CCC 1213) |
How to prepare for Baptism for your baby to the age of 6
Baptism classes for both parents and Godparents are required prior to Baptism. Baptism classes are held the 2nd Monday of each month at 6:30 pm in our lower level room, St. Dominic’s (St. Dominic's can be found right inside the blue parish office doors to the left).
At the Baptism class, there will be an explanation of Baptism, including what will happen during and how this is the first step on the journey of Faith for your child. The class will provide great insight and empower parents and godparents to assist as the child grows in their faith.
The meeting will provide you with the needed paperwork, such as the baptism application and the godparent forms.
The Baptism application gives the church information about the child and the parents and gives the church permission to baptize your child.
The Godparent forms are completed by the godparents stating they are in good standing with the Catholic church. To be in good standing with the Catholic Church, the godparent must have received all sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Communion, & Confirmation). If married, the godparent must be married in the Catholic church.
Baptisms are offered before, during or after any weekend Masses, other dates and times may be available. If you are interested in date outside of the weekend please reach out using the contact information below.
