Ave Maria Faith Formation Volunteer Opportunities
Marriage Ministry Team (Couples Ministry) - Wednesdays, 6 week cycles in October and again in April. This is a great ministry for someone who cannot make a weekly commitment, but wants to work with adults in evangelization/catechesis. In October (and again in April), we will host a 6 week series for couples preparing for marriage (or wishing to receive marriage enrichment) Our marriage ministry team will assist with testimonies and table discussion. Couples who assist with this ministry would not necessarily need to attend all 6 weeks. We need a couple who can give testimony that relates to the lesson (each week, a different couple). We would also like the Marriage Ministry team to assist in a one day, Saturday retreat at the end of each 6-week cycle. You must be a married couple to serve on this team... but couples from all generations are welcome and encouraged to join the team. High School Core Team Volunteer (Youth Ministry)
We are looking for volunteers who are passionate about sharing the Gospel and ministering to high school students for our Sunday Night Youth Groups. The commitment is Sunday nights (5:30-8:30 pm) roughly every other Sunday night during the school year. Youth Group is a high energy and large scale event. The role will mainly be ministering to and engaging with high schoolers during the event, whether that's in a small group setting, chatting with students during dinner, participating in games, and if interested giving a talk of some sort. Youth Group actually takes place from 6:15-8pm, so coming a little bit early to set-up and staying a little late for take down is really important. Middle School Core Team Volunteer (Youth Ministry) - The middle school youth program is looking for adults to volunteer on our Core Team! This team of adults will be serving as ministers alongside both the Ave youth team, and the high school Peer Leaders. The primary objective of this team will be to act as mentors to one or two high school Peer Leaders, helping to facilitate transformative small groups, which will serve as the backbone of our middle school youth group! Elementary Lead/Assistant Catechists (K-5 Children's Ministry) - We are seeking catechists who have a love of passing on the faith to children. Catechists should have a desire to grow in and hand on the Catholic Faith, and a love for the Church and commitment to Her moral teachings and Sacramental life. We are looking for people with a strength of character built on patience, responsibility, confidence and creativity and a spirit of joy, courage, hope, enthusiasm, generosity and respect. The time commitment involves either Sunday afternoon from 3:00 - 4:30 pm or Wednesday evening from 4:45 pm - 6:00 pm. High School Small Group Leader (Youth Ministry)
Our high school ministry is growing rapidly and our need for small group leaders is huge! If you love Jesus and want to share the Good News with the younger generation, this is the place for you! We are looking for a handful of men and women who are willing to give their time towards leading a small group of high school boys or girls either weekly or bi-weekly. Content will be provided for your small group along with training. We just need you to find a time either weekly or bi-weekly to lead your group and we'll connect you with the high schoolers. High School Hospitality Crew (Youth Ministry)
We believe that a meal shared brings people together! If you want to support the high school ministry but don't necessarily have the desire to engage with students through small groups or large scale ministry, this might be the place for you! We are looking for a team of 2-3 who can commit to the hospitality crew for Sunday Night Youth Groups (roughly every Sunday during the school year). This team will be in charge of purchasing food and cooking meals for roughly 50 students/volunteers for these events. Our ministry does have a budget for these meals so it is important that we do our best to stick with that, or subsidise nights by having a potluck style meal.
